Taufel will go to Pakistan

Australian Simon Taufel, the world's top umpire said he is not scared of going to Pakistan to officiate in the Champions' Trophy.

The Australian cricket team, on the other hand are as of now uncertain of going to defend the title they made their own when the prestigious event was played in India two years back.

Taufel said only an "extreme" threat to life can stop him from going to trouble torn Pakistan and doing his job.

Taufel will be in Pakistan next week to officiate in the Asia Cup. The three-time winner of the ICC's Umpire of the Year award says he has never feared for his life anywhere in the world and Pakistan is no exception.

"I've never felt threatened or unsafe umpiring anywhere in the world but I want to make sure all the security arrangements are in place," he told The Australian.

Taufel though has asked the ICC to give him an update on the security situation in Pakistan, which he is yet to receive.

"I've asked for a safety and security report from the ICC but I still haven't received it," he revealed.
