Age no concern for Sanga

Sri Lankan wicket keeper Kumara Sangakkara said performance and not age should be taken into consideration for selection.

Speaking to an Indian news channel, Sangakkara said: "One should never get carried away with the numbers. You could be 20 or 40 but if you are performing, you should be in the team. Mental aptitiude is what matters."

Asked about his team's mood ahead of the Asia Cup, beginning June 24, Sanga said it as positive as ever. He also denied that mingling in close proximity with Indian players during the IPL would give him and his side a added advantage over the opposition.

"If we get that advantage, it would be the same for the opposition. All we can get to know is the mental make up of a player and the way he approaches his game."

Sanga opined that it is definitely a change of gears from T20 to ODI's: "It is a different kind of enthusiasm altogether.
