Kumble confident of India's success
India's Test captain Anil Kumble has said he was confident of India winning the Asia Cup in Pakistan.
Kumble said it was only a matter of a few runs that made the difference in the recently concluded Kitply Cup which India lost to Pakistan in Bangladesh and not much should be read into that.
"During the last tri-nation series final, we would have won if we had scored 20 more runs," he said.
India suffered a 23-run loss to Pakistan in the final after having thrashed the arch-rivals by 140 runs in the league stage.
He also said that if the team continues to play with the same rhythm they should win the Asia Cup.
"However, if we maintain the same tempo, I am sure Team India will return with the Asia Cup," Kumble said.
Speaking on the eve of a weeklong camp for Test probables in Bangalore, Kumble said that the just-ended 45-day Indian Premier League would not have any adverse impact on Test players as they were professionals and were capable of adjusting to any format.
The leggie said he had suggested the camp to be held in Bangalore because of its "ideal weather conditions and other facilities".
"Players attending the camp, especially youngsters, can improve their performance before the BCCI selects the final team for the Sri Lanka series," he said.
Kumble said former India captain Sourav Ganguly had been exempted from attending the camp as he was in London looking after his father, undergoing treatment there and Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar "is a bit busy attending family matters and might join the camp later in the week".
