Sanath: Dropping me was wrong
Sanath Jayasuriya, who slammed a tremendous ton, said he showed everyone that dropping him was a mistake.
Speaking to STAR Cricket after bagging the Man of the Match for his 88 ball 130, Jayasuriya said he will keep proving his mettle with his performances with both bat and ball.
The left handed opener was initially dropped from Sri Lanka's sqaud for the STAR Cricket Asia Cup but later added at the last moment after his phenomenal show in the Indian Premier League.
"I can always show people what I am capable of with the bat and ball. They will then realise that dropping me was a wrong decision, that something was wrong somewhere."
The 'Matara Mauler' said that he has has done nothing different from what he has always done: "I came back to form in the IPL. Here I got an opportunity to bat longer and I did."
"I am enjoying myself with the team and enjoying my shots," said the elated birthday boy. "Overall, I am happy with my performance."
Jayasuriya was also very happy with the way the entire team has been performing: "Kumara (Sangakkara) has been batting very well and everybody is playing their role to perfection."
"We need to continue with our good work."
While, Sangakkara blasted his third century of the STAR Cricket Asia Cup, Muttiah Muralitharan snapped up five wickets on Monday.
Ajantha Mendis, had on Sunday, bagged four wickets against Pakistan. The Sri Lankans should be a happy bunch. This team is clicking like a well oiled unit.
