Younis: I wanted to bat sensibly

Younis Khan, who played brilliantly for his ton said he had decided to bat sensibly and that is what he did against India.

The consistent middle order batsman, who bagged the Man of the Match award for his splendid ton, told STAR Cricket: "I wanted to bat sensibly. I had planned to bat all through and help the other batsmen around me."

Younis appreciated the fact that Pakistan got off to a good start: "We were off to a good start and we just had to carry on from there."

Younis played against the spin to Piyush Chawla all night and the Indians would have hoped he top edged one. However, the wily batsman knew what he was doing.

"I had pratciced playing against the spin. It is not that big a risk on flat wickets. The ball comes on to the bat nicely. So far, it is working for me."

Younis also credited stand in captain Misba-ul-Haq for his innings, saying he finished well.

The Pakistani team seems to be gelling well after all the controversies that surrounded them since last week. The pressure will be on India now to try and squeeze through to the final after their bowlers dug their own grave.
