Betting racket busted in Nagpur

Nagpur police arrested eight people on betting charges when India and Sri Lanka were battling it out for the Asia Cup.

Police received a tip off that people were betting on Sunday's final being played in Karachi and busted the racket.

The police nabbed two people while they were allegedly involving in betting. Police have apparently seized cash worth Rs 8,700, a laptop, 11 mobile phones and sundry paraphernalia from them, which amounts in its entirety up to Rs 1.35 lakh.

Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law against both the accused. Police sources

revealed both of them are being interrogated for further details about their modus operandi and their clients who indulged in betting.

The crime branch of Nagpur police has swung into rapid action to try and trace the source of the bets placed and come up with more leads.
