Super Kings first to get 'fan club'

Chennai Super Kings, who will appear in the CL T20, became the first team in the cricketing world to have their own fan club.

Taking their cue from 'fan clubs' in the United Kingdom and other European countries and also the USA, the CSK launched its fan club here today, offering unique benefits including a host of benefits to its members in the Champions League Twenty20, which will be held at three venues in India from December 3 to 10.

Launching the club, T S Raghupathy, Executive President of India Cements, owners of the franchisee, said the inaugural IPL tournament was a huge success due to the unstinted support of fans.

"We were overwhelmed by the response not only from Chennai and India, but from throughout the world," he said.

National Selection Committee chief Krishnamachari Srikkanth, who is also brand ambassador of the franchisee, said it was a dream come true to finally put in place a fan club.

"The fan support through our 'Super King Cricketer' Mahendra Singh Dhoni at a pan-India level motivated us to form the Club," he said.
