T&T to name squad for CL T20

Trinidad and Tobago is set to name its provisional squad for the Champions League Twenty20.

This follows an agreement between its regional board and the West Indies Players Association over the sharing of appearance fee in the lucrative tournament in India.

A deal was hammered out after some eleventh-hour negotiations between WIPA president Dinanath Ramnarine and T&TCB president Deryck Murray, just before the deadline for the submission of a provisional squad of 20 to the CL T20 organisers, the 'Trinidad and Tobago Express' reported.

Contractual issues had previously stalled the selection of T&T's provisional squad. The bone of contention was how the USD 500,000 appearance fee in the October 8-23 event would be shared by the T&TCB and the players.

The players and the WIPA boss wanted the cash to be split equally, that is USD 250,000 to be divided among the official squad of 15 competing in the tournament with the remainder being divided by the TTCB, WICB and reserve players.

The T&TCB wanted the sum to be evenly distributed after expenses and the Indian Government taxes were deducted.

The CL T20 will have 12 teams -- three from India, two each from England, South Africa and Australia and one each from the West Indies, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Trinidad and Tobago will represent the West Indies as they had won the Stanford Twenty20 competition in Antigua.
