Puttick to replace Smith for Cobras

The Airtel CL T20 Technical Committee confirmed a change to the Cape Cobras squad for the tournament from 8-23 October.

Graeme Smith has been replaced by Andrew Puttick in the Cobras 15-man squad after he was withdrawn on the advice of Cricket South Africa’s medical committee to continue his rehabilitation from elbow surgery.

Puttick, a 28-year-old, left-handed opening batsman, made his domestic Twenty20 debut in 2004 for Western Province Boland. He has played 32 domestic Twenty20 matches and scored 605 runs at an average of 25.2 and strike rate of 104.49.

The Cape Cobras will open their Airtel Champions League Twenty20 campaign against Bangalore Royal Challengers in Bangalore on the opening night of the tournament on Thursday 8 October.
