Gibbs is "The Greatest" T20 batsman
Surfers of www.espnstar.com have given their verdict. Herschelle Gibbs is – “The Greatest” Airtel CLT20 batsman.
Cape Cobras recruit Gibbs polled 51% of the votes in the showdown with Delhi Daredevils' Tillakaratne Dilshan in the contest, which concluded on Monday.
The Protean star and the Sri Lankan hitter beat Mahela Jayawardene (Wayamba) and Gautam Gambhir (Daredevils) respectively in the semi-finals to set up the final date.
While Gibbs nipped past Andrew Symonds of Deccan Chargers in the quarter-finals, Jayawardene got the better of New South Wales' David Warner. Dilshan accounted for South African batting sensation AB de Villiers (Daredevils) while Gambhir saw off teammate Virender Sehwag.
16 batsmen were shorlisted to start with. They were paired against each other in a knockout draw. The one with the higher percentage of votes advanced to the next round. The process was repeated for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final.
