Mishra, Nannes: Delhi to miss Vettori

Delhi Daredevils would miss the service of Daniel Vettori during Airtel CL T20, feels bowlers Amit Mishra and Dirk Nannes.

Mishra, a key member of Delhi team's spin department, however, is hopeful that Vettori's absence would not dent the prospect of the side in the USD six million tournament.

"Vettori will surely be missed in the squad because he is an experienced and quality bowler. But I hope his absence will not hamper Delhi Daredevil's chances of winning at the big event. We have enough players to put up quality performance," Mishra said.

Delhi Daredevils would play their first match in the tournament against Victoria in front of the home crowd at Feroze Shah Kotla.

The 26-year-old Mishra was raring to go in the showpiece event starting tomorrow.

"I have been playing well for quite some time and also have raised standard of my bowling since my comeback to the India team. I promise to give 100 per cent in the tournament," Mishra said.

Meanwhile, Australian paceman Nannes also supported Mishra that Vettori's absence would be felt by the team.

"Yes, we will definitely miss Vettori, but at the same time the Delhi team have enough backup to win the matches," the left-arm pacer said.

Nannes also excited with the possibility of Australian pace legend Glenn McGrath replacing Vettori and said, "McGrath is a great fellow, a great bowler and also a great competitor.

His presence will definitely boost the team's chances.

However, Delhi Daredevils is yet to take a final call on the matter.

With Vettori's ouster, Delhi lost three overseas players on the run-up to the Airtel Champions League in less than a week.

South African AB de Villers was the first to pull out due to back injury, followed by England's Paul Collingwood.

But that did not dishearten skipper Gautam Gambhir who exuded confidence that his team would come out with flying colours.

"The team has got the potential to win this tournament and every player will perform to his fullest. We have quality batting and bowling line-up and so have good chance to win the tournament," said Gambhir.
