Hyderabad in the mood to party
espnstar.com’s Rajarshi Gupta lives up the moment at the ground in Hyderabad as T&T battle Cape Cobras for a spot in the final.
Hyderabad knows how to have fun. Despite an early exit for the Deccan Chargers, the city has turned up in substantial numbers to cheer for the Cape Cobras and Trinidad and Tobago in the second semi-final.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is the place to be in on Thursday night. They are all dancing in the aisles as the Cobras go about rattling some red nerves.
Now then you cannot count out the Trinidadians maan. Dave Mohammad played his part to perfection again, though a little differently this time.
Brought on by skipper Darren Ganga to contain a rampaging Herschelle Gibbs, the left arm spinner pulled off a stunner out of thin air to see the end of Henry Davids.
The cheer leaders, decked in red and blue have added to the heat. The music, the DJ and the Red flair have kept spectators on their toes.
In fact, the media box has been excited as well. Work stations were nearly empty when Gibbs went ballistic early on and order was restored when the Cobras opener had his furniture unsettled by Kieron Pollard.
Another roar there for Gibbs. They spotted him on the big screen, being interviewed in the dug out.
The Hyderabadis love their cricket and the stars. Duminy, Gibbs, Pollard and Mohammad are rock stars tonight.
It is all happening tonight. Trinidad and Tobago, who looked a little out of sorts have struck back with their now well documented venom. There is a feel of the old Calypso charisma in these guys , they remind you of the days of Viv Richards and Gordon Greenidge.
There is still a long way to go though. The Cobras look a little shaken in the dug out despite a rather solid score on the board already.
However, the Proteas know what Ganga's men can do. A fearless band of men are never easy to contain.
