The Cape Cobras or the Cobras play in three domestic tournaments - the SuperSport Series, MTN Domestic Championship and Standard Bank Twenty20 competitions religiously.
The manner in which last season's new caps (Imraan Khan, Wayne Parnell, Lonwabo Tsotsobe and Roelof van der Merwe) raised their games to the international level, is in itself a proof of how tough these domestic sides are.
Cape Cobras especially, are a very strong team, having eight international players in their ranks. South African captain Graeme Smith, Herschelle Gibbs, JP Duminy, Charl Langeveldt, Justin Ontong, Monde Zondeki are amongst the high-profile stars.
However, with so many international players in their ranks, the Cobras have managed to win only one trophy since the franchise system came into being - the MTN Domestic Championship in 2006/07. But the fact is that they have contributed largely to the country's success by producing world class players for the national team.
