"I'm not prepared to represent SA yet"

Diamond Eagles' southpaw Rilee Rossow spoke to espnstar.com in an exclusive interview.

By Sudeer Mahavaadi

Q. Are you happy with your performance and the team's?

A. I am happy with my team's performance. We came here with high hopes and have been playing to our potential. It is tough to perform in these conditions in India but we are all very excited to play. The wicket in Delhi was a very difficult one though.

Q. In the match against Sussex you batted beautifully. Would you say that you adjusted to the conditions fast?

A. It was never easy to bat on the wicket in Delhi, which behaved differently at different stages. However, I understood that well and I got good support from McLaren too. That knock was really special for me as it was my top score in T20 domestic. But I was disappointed because I could not carry on till the end.

Q. Are you ready to represent your country?

A. That is my ultimate aim. I am certainly hoping of play for the ODI team but I don't want to get selected in the national team before three to four years. I feel I am too young right now and really not ready for it. I want to learn more before I play for my country.

Q. What do you have to say about the super over?

A. There was a lot of anxiety and excitement. We were happy with nine runs in the end. Obviously, you always like to have more runs on the board but those nine runs I thought were good enough on that pitch to fight and force a win. It was difficult to score on that track and finally CJ de Villiers produced two beauties for us.

Q. When did you start playing cricket?

A. I used to watch my father play. I played for my province and now I am representing the U-19 franchise level, which is a great honour for me. I have had great support from my father. And now even the team is very supportive. Boeta Dippenaar has been very supportive.

Q. Which were your best performances back home?

A. My best performance was a 115 runs in a match earlier this year. I also scored four hundreds in fifteen games. At under-19 level, I scored 89 in a two-day match against Bangladesh. I played in Malaysia in the U-19 World Cup and I also played in Australia recently in the Emerging Cup. I am in India for the first time. It is a wonderful place. In Delhi people were very friendly and they really looked after us well. I have not seen much of Hyderabad since we have arrived but I really enjoyed my stay in Delhi.

Q. Like most of the South Africans, do you also want to play in England? Do you have any offers?

A. I am still not sure about that. I have to talk to my agent. But there are a couple of offers.
