One of England's brightest, young talents, Laura Marsh has been captivating with her consistency for the women's side over the last year. Excerpts from an exclusive chat.
Rajarshi Gupta: There has been so much talk about ODI's dying after the advent of T20 cricket. Do you agree?
Laura Marsh: There is more of a buzz around T20 games but I still think 50 over cricket is an exciting spectacle
RG: Do you think there should be a more structured format in Test cricket to determine the world number one?
LM: We don't play a lot of test matches in Women's cricket so this doesn't really apply to us at the moment.
RG: Is it unfair to focus so much on men's cricket when women are doing more than their bit to give a global feel to the game?
LM: There is more focus on Women's cricket now than ever before, with the men's and women's T20 World cups being played alongside one another. Hopefully the profile will only improve with these kinds of opportunities.
RG: Would you like to be part of a tournament like the IPL? Or do you think that such initiatives take the focus away from international cricket?
LM: It would be great for the women's game to play in something like the IPL. There could be a women's game as a ‘curtain raiser' to the men's game. Although the women's game is not professional.
