- 1429 runs were scored for the loss of 22 wickets, which is a new record for the highest match aggregate in any Test match at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, eclipsing the 1334 for 27 wickets between India and West Indies in 1958-59.
- The drawn game is the third between the two countries in six Tests at the Feroz Shah Kotla - the previous two drawn Tests at this venue being in October 1979 and September 1986.
- Of the last four Tests played between the two countries, three have failed to produce results - Adelaide in January this year, followed by Bangalore and Delhi.
- In the last five Tests against India, Australia are without a win - the sequence being 72-run win by India at Perth, followed by drawn games at Adelaide and Bangalore, 320-run win by India at Mohali and a drawn game at Delhi.
- VVS Laxman's aggregate of 259 (200 & 59) is now the second best at the Feroz Shah Kotla, next only to Rahul Dravid's 270 (200 not out + 70 not out) against Zimbabwe in 2000-01.
- Gambhir's series aggregate of 463 (ave.77.16), including two centuries and one fifty, in three Tests is the best by any left-hander in a Test series for India against Australia, eclipsing Nari Contractor's tally of 438 at an average of 43.80 in five Tests, including one century and one fifty, in the 1959-60 series
- Rahul Dravid (11 & 11), for the second time in his Test career, has been dismissed on the same score in each innings of a Test match. In the 2001-02 Colombo (SSC) Test against Sri Lanka, he had made 36 in each innings.
- Seven times in his career, Dravid has recorded a score of 11 - twice not out.
- Dravid is averaging 23.40 in the present series - 117 in five innings, including one fifty - 51 at Bangalore.
- In 12 Tests (22 innings) this year, David has aggregated 659 runs at an average of 32.95, including one century and four fifties (S.R. 39.31). His batting average this year (32.95) is the lowest of his Test career in a calendar year.
- Since January 2007, Dravid has managed a Test average of only 34.18 - 1265 runs in 22 Tests (41 innings), including two centuries and seven fifties.
- During the course of his second innings, Sachin Tendulkar (643 in 8 Tests) became the third batsman to aggregate 600-plus at the Feroz Shah Kotla, joining Dilip Vengsarkar (671 in 8 Tests) and Sunil Gavaskar (668 in 9 Tests)
- Sachin is averaging 55.00 in the present series - 275 runs in six innings, including two fifties.
- Sachin (47) took his run-aggregate against Australia to 2627 at an average of 55.89 in 28 Tests, including nine hundreds and eleven fifties, extending his record for most runs against Australia.
- With Dravid's wicket, Brett Lee has equalled Richie Benaud's tally of 52 wickets against India.
- Laxman became the first ever batsman in the history of Test cricket to register a double century and a fifty in the same Test match twice. He had first accomplished the feat in the 2000-01 Kolkata Test - 59 & 281.
- Laxman got his third MOM award in Tests - his second against Australia.
