- Chennai Super Kings with their victory over Bangalore Royal Challengers have now won ten games out of 18 in the IPL.
- Rajasthan Royals have won 13 and Kings XI Punjab 10.
- Bangalore Royal Challengers have lost 11 out of 16 and only Deccan Chargers (12) have lost more games than Bangalore.
- Chennai Super Kings' triumph by 92 runs is their biggest in terms of runs in the IPL, bettering their 33-run win over Kings XI Punjab at Mohali on April 19, 2008.
- Chennai registered their second win in three games over Bangalore.
- Bangalore Royal Challengers (87) registered their second lowest score in the IPL - their lowest being 82 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Bangalore in the first edition of the IPL.
- Chennai Super Kings' 92-run victory is the third biggest in terms of runs in the IPL - the top two being by 140 runs by Kolkata over Bangalore at Bangalore and by 105 runs by Rajasthan over Delhi in the first edition of the IPL.
- Six sixes were hit by Chennai Super Kings, taking their IPL tally to 98 so far - the second best, next only to the Kings XI's 102.
- Chennai Super Kings' total of 179 for five is the best in the 2008-09 edition so far, bettering the 165 for 7 by Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings at Cape Town on April 18, 2009.
- Chennai's aforesaid total is their highest against Bangalore, bettering the 178 for five at Bangalore on April 28, 2008.
- Parthiv Patel and Matthew Hayden put on 106 for the first wicket - Chennai Super Kings' best ever for this wicket in the IPL, surpassing the 66 between the same pair against Kolkata Knight Riders at Chennai on April 26, 2008.
- The aforesaid stand is the second best against Bangalore by any opening pair, next only to the 109 between Graeme Smith and Swapnil Asnodkar for Rajasthan at Jaipur on May 17, 2008.
- Of the eight century stands for the first wicket in the IPL so far, three have been recorded against Bangalore, two against Chennai, one each against Mumbai, Rajasthan and Deccan.
- Hayden's fifty off 22 balls is the second fastest in the IPL, next only to Yusuf Pathan's 21-ball fifty for Rajasthan against Hyderabad at Hyderabad on April 24, 2008.
- Hayden's 65 off 35 balls is his third IPL fifty - his first two being 81 off 46 balls against Mumbai at Chennai on April 23, 2008 and 70 not out off 49 balls against Kolkata at Chennai on April 26, 2008.
- Hayden has an outstanding record in the IPL - 298 in six innings at an average of 59.60, including three fifties with a strike rate of 148.25.
- Hayden is the only cricketer in Twenty20 to have averaged 55 while aggregating 600 runs - 606 at an average of 55.09 in 15 matches, including seven fifties.
- Hayden has emulated Mahendra Singh Dhoni's 65 against Bangalore at Bangalore in the first edition. Both now share the record for the highest individual innings for Chennai against Bangalore.
- Anil Kumble has played 12 IPL games so far, failing to claim a single wicket in seven games. In the first edition of the IPL, he had failed to take a wicket in his first five games.
- Muttiah Muralitharan (3/11) has produced his best bowling figures in the IPL, surpassing the 2 for 39 against Rajasthan at Mumbai on June 1, 2008.
- Muralitharan got his first MOM award in the IPL.
