- West Indies have registered their first win in three games in the ICC World Twenty20.

- In the 2007-08 ICC World Twenty20, West Indies had lost to South Africa by 8 wickets and to Bangladesh by six wickets, both at Johannesburg.

- West Indies have won both their matches against Australia in Twenty20 Internationals.

- West Indies' seven-wicket triumph is their biggest over Australia in Twenty20 Internationals, eclipsing the three-wicket win at Bridgetown on June 20, 2008.

- Australia suffered their biggest defeat in the ICC World Twenty20. Their seven-wicket loss to West Indies has eclipsed the six-wicket defeat to Pakistan at Johannesburg on September 18, 2007.
- Australia have lost four out of seven played in ICC World Twenty20 - one each to India, West Indies, Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

- Australia's 169 for seven is their second best score in ICC World Twenty20 - their highest being 173 for seven against India at Durban on September 22, 2007.

- David Warner (63 off 53 balls) has posted his second fifty in Twenty20 Internationals - his highest is 89 against South Africa at Melbourne on January 11, 2009.

- Amongst the current Australian playing XI, Warner is the only one to have averaged 40 - 240 in six innings. No one else has an average of even 30.00.

- Shane Watson (63 off 53 balls) has registered his first duck in Twenty20 Internationals.

- Ricky Ponting has recorded his second duck in Twenty20 Internationals. His first duck was against England at Southampton on June 13, 2005.

- Ponting's last three innings in Twenty20 Internationals are: 1 vs.South Africa at Johannesburg on March 27, 2009; 1 vs. South Africa at Centurion on March 29, 2009 and 0 vs. West Indies at The Oval on June 6, 2009.

- Sulieman Benn, with three catches in an innings, became the second fielder after Brett Lee to accomplish the feat in the ICC World Twenty20. Lee had achieved the feat against Sri Lanka at Cape Town on September 20, 2007.

- Dwayne Bravo (2/31) has produced his best bowling figures in the ICC World Twenty20.

- Bravo's best ever figures in Twenty20 Internationals are 2 for 16 against New Zealand at Auckland on February 16, 2006.

- Fidel Edwards (2/34) has recorded his best bowling performance in Twenty20 Internationals, bettering the 1 for 14 against South Africa at Port Elizabeth on December 16, 2007.

- Andre Fletcher (53 off 32 balls) has recorded his best innings in Twenty29 Internationals - his maiden fifty.

- Chris Gayle and Fletcher put on 133 for the first wicket - West Indies' second best in ICC World Twenty20, next only to the 145 between Gayle and Smith against South Africa at Johannesburg on September 11, 2007.

- Gayle's 23-ball fifty is the fastest by a West Indian in Twenty20 Internationals. He has surpassed his own record of 26-ball fifty against South Africa at Johannesburg on September 11, 2007.

- Gayle's outstanding innings of 88 off 50 balls includes six sixes and six fours.

- Gayle's aforesaid knock is the best by a captain in the ICC World Twenty20, bettering Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene's 65 against Kenya at Johannesburg on September 14, 2007.

- Gayle has taken his tally of sixes to 22 in only eight games in Twenty20 Internationals. Only Brendon McCullum (23 in 22 ganes) has recorded more sixes than Gayle.

- Gayle's tally of 16 sixes is a record in the ICC World Twenty20, bettering the 13 by New Zealand's Craig McMillan.

- Gayle enjoys an excellent record in Twenty20 Internationals - 349 in only eight games at an average of 43.62, including one century and three fifties.

- Gayle has been adjudged the MOM for the third time in Twenty20 Internationals.

- Brett Lee has conceded 27 runs to Chris Gayle - the fourth highest conceded by any bowler in a Twenty20 International. England's Stuart Broad had conceded 36 (666666) to Yuvraj Singh at Durban on September 19, 2007, which is a record in Twenty20 Internationals

- Brett Lee (4-0-56-1), for the first time, has conceded more than 35 runs in an innings in Twenty20 Internationals.

- Lee has earned a dubious distinction. He is the first Australian bowler to concede 50 runs or more in an innings in Twenty20 Internationals.
