- 394 runs have been added for the loss of six wickets (32/4 to 426), which is India's best recovery when they lost the first four wickets for less than 35 runs.
- India's total is now their third best at Sardar Patel Stadium - the top two totals being 583 for 7 wickets declared against New Zealand in 1999-00 and 500 for five wickets declared against New Zealand in 2003-04.
- Chanaka Welegedara (4/87) has produced his best bowling figures in Tests, outstripping his previous best of 2 for 17 against England at Galle in December 2007.
- Welegedara became the first Sri Lankan bowler to claim four wickets in an innings at this venue. The previous best figures by a Sri Lankan bowler at Sardar Patel Stadium were 3 for 50 by Aravinda de Silva in 1993-94.

- Harbhajan Singh's 22 off 54 balls is his second best score at this venue, next only to the 40 not out off 51 balls against Sri Lanka in December 2005.
- Rahul Dravid's 177 is the second best score for India against Sri Lanka in India, next only to Mohammad Azharuddin's 199 at Kanpur in 1986-87.
- Muttiah Muralitharan (91 at 30.10 runs apiece in 19 Tests) became the second bowler after Imran Khan (94) to claim 90 wickets or more against India.
- Muralitharan (301) became the second bowler after Shane Warne (389) to complete 300 wickets or more on foreign soil, his victim being Harbhajan Singh.
- Paranavitana (35) has registered his best innings away from home, bettering the 21 against Pakistan at Lahore in March 2009.
- Dilshan has posted his second century against India - his tenth overall. Dilshan has now five centuries each in Sri Lanka and away from home.
- Dilshan, with his aforesaid hundred, has become the first batsman to register five hundreds during the calendar year 2009. Three other batsmen have recorded four centuries each this year - England's Andrew Strauss, West Indian, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Sri Lanka's Thilan Samaraweera.

- Dilshan's innings is the highest by a Sri Lankan against India in India, eclipsing Aravinda de Silva's 110 not out at Mohali in 1997-98.
- Dilshan is now the fourth Sri Lankan to post a hundred in India, joining Duleep Mendis (105 & 105 at Chepauk, Chennai in 1982-83), Aravinda de Silva (110 not out at Mohali in 1997-98) and Marvan Atapattu (108 at Mohali in 1997-98).
- Dilshan's aforesaid innings is his first century while batting at number one position. While batting at number two position, he had registered 123 not out off 132 balls against New Zealand at Galle in August 2009.
- Apart from his hundred each at number one and two positions, Dilshan has recorded five hundreds at number six and three at number five.
- Dilshan's best series has been against Bangladesh in 2008-09, aggregating 366 (avg 91.50), with a hundred in each innings of the Chittagong Test - 162 & 143.
- Dilshan's aggregate of 961 in nine Tests at an average of 73.92 is exceeded only by Thilan Samaraweera (1128) and Andrew Strauss (1071).

- Dilshan's strike rate of 85.42 this year is the best by any batsman.
- Dilshan's aggregate of 242 (ave.80.66) in three innings at Sardar Patel Stadium is the best by a visiting batsman at this venue. He is the only Sri Lankan to register three consecutive innings of 60-plus - 65 & 65 in December 2005, followed by 112 today.
- Dilshan and Kumar Sagakkara put on 115 for the second wicket, equalling Sri Lanka's highest for this wicket-position in India. In the 1997-98 Mumbai Test, Marvan Atapattu and Dharmasena were involved in a 115-run stand.
