- Only two Australian players - Matthew Hayden (21) and Ricky Ponting (20) - have recorded more hundreds than Sachin Tendulkar at home.

- Sachin, with this hundred, has become the first batsman to post three hundreds at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera.

- Sachin has recorded his 43rd century, extending his world record for most Test hundreds.

- VVS Laxman has posted his 40th fifty - his fourth against Sri Lanka.

- Amit has registered nine half-centuries in first-class cricket. His highest score is 84, recorded twice in the Ranji Trophy, both being the highest innings for Haryana - against Madhya Pradesh at Rohtak in November 2002 and - against Saurashtra at Rajkot in January 2007.

- Gautam Gambhir, thanks to his 114 off 230 balls, has taken his runs' tally in 2009 to 560 at an average of 80.00 in four matches - the best by an Indian player this year so far, bettering Rahul Dravid's run-aggregate of 529 (ave.75.87) in four Tests.

- Gambhir's seventh Test hundred is his first against Sri Lanka. Of his seven hundreds, four have been recorded by Gambhir in India and three away from home.

- With a hundred each at Napier, Wellington and Ahmedabad, Gambhhir has accomplished another feat in his glittering Test career.

- Gambhir is now the sixth Indian batsman to have recorded three centuries or more in successive Tests, joining Sunil Gavaskar (4 between 1976-77 and 1977-78 & 3 during 1970-71), Rahul Dravid (4 between 2002 and 2002-03), Vijay Hazare (3 between 1948-49 and 1951-52), Polly Umrigar (3 between 1960-61 and 1961-62) and Mohammad Azharuddin (3 during 1984-85 and 3 between 1989-90 and 1990).

- Gambhir's previous highest against Sri Lanka was 74 at Galle in July 2008.

- Gambhir has performed exceptionally well under Dhoni's captaincy - four hundreds in six Tests - 939 runs in 12 innings, including four hundreds and four fifties

- Gambhir's 114 off 230 balls is his sixth Test hundred in his last eight matches, including last three in successive Tests - 137 against New Zealand at Napier & 167 at Wellington - both in March/April this year, followed by 114 against Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad on November 20.

- The just concluded drawn Test between India and Sri Lanka is the first between the two countries at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera. India had defeated Sri Lanka in both the Tests played at this venue - by an innings and 17 runs in 1993-94 and by 259 runs in 2005-06.

- Of the ten Tests played at this venue, five have failed to produce results - two against New Zealand and one each against Sri Lanka, England and Pakistan.

- Sachin, during the course of his match-saving innings, has completed 30,000 runs in international cricket - the first player to achieve the distinction.

- Tendulkar, during the course of his 100 off 211 balls, has taken his run-aggregate against Sri Lanka to 1512 at an average of 58.15 in 20 Tests, regaining his record for the highest runs' tally in India-Sri Lanka Tests, surpassing Mahela Jayawardene's tally of 1436 (ave.79.77) in 13 Tests.

- Sachin (577) became the second batsman after Rahul Dravid (666) to complete 500 runs or more at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad.

- For the second time, India have registered 400 in each innings of a Test match, the first occasion being 407 & 407 for 9 wickets declared against Pakistan in the 2004-05 Kolkata Test.

- Muttiah Muralitharan (38-6-124-0) has earned a dubious distinction, failing to take a single wicket while conceding 100 or more runs in an innings for the third time in his career - second time against India

- Seven centuries - 4 by India and 3 by Sri Lanka is a record in India. For the first time, seven centuries have been recorded in a Test match, involving India.
