Bangladesh ready to replace teams

Bangladesh have said they are ready to replace any team which pulls out of next month's ICC Champions Trophy.

Australia, New Zealand and England have refused to commit their participation in the tournament fearing the safety of their players.

Ninth in the world rankings, Bangladesh could slip into the eight-team Champions Trophy if a re-shuffle of teams is required and coach Jamie Siddons said his side is ready to play in the tournament if invited.

"I think we're free to play if it happens but, personally, I can't see it happening. We've been called to Pakistan recently to fill in for the Aussies and we'll do it again if we get invited," Siddons was quoted as saying by The Age.

Bangladesh, currently in Australia for a three-match one-day series starting on August 30, visited Pakistan after the Aussies postponed their tour there earlier this year.

Siddon's side were also part of the June-July Asia Cup in in Karachi and Lahore.

The fate of the Champions Trophy remains undecided as Australia, New Zealand, England and South Africa have expressed reservations on playing in Pakistan because of the continuing violence there.

The ICC Board is expected to take a final call on the matter via a teleconference on Sunday.
