Younus, Malik clear dope tests

Pakistan captain Younus Khan and all-rounder Shoaib Malik have cleared the random dope tests being conducted by the ICC.

Younus and Malik were picked by the anti-doping committee of the ICC for tests in the ongoing Champions Trophy in South Africa from the Pakistan team and manager Yawar Saeed said that both had cleared the tests.

"Their results have come negative which is good. We were expecting this because we have been trying hard to educate the players about anti-doping codes and ICC requirements on this issue," Yawar said from Johannesburg.

The ICC have also taken the samples of pace bowler Muhammad Asif and Yawar said his result would be known in the next 48 hours.

Asif has twice failed in dope tests in 2006 and 2008 and just completed a 12-month ban for a doping offence in the Indian Premier League.

"He is training hard with the team and we are keeping a close watch on his fitness," he said.
