"I will never bat as an opener"

Shoaib Malik has criticised the team management for shuffling the batting order during the CT, saying it affected his form.

Malik said he would never bat as an opener or at the number three position in future.

"I am ready to bat any position for the team but it is not a good strategy on part of the team management to keep on changing the batting order of players in every match. They are unable to focus and produce runs," he said.

Malik, who was sent at the number three position in the crucial semifinal against New Zealand and failed, said in future he would not like to be used as an opener or number three player and wants a permanent position in the team.

"One of the reasons why players can't score consistently is they don't know about their position for the next match.

The team management should inform a player before a series or tournament where they expect him to bat.

"Personally, I am not comfortable playing as an opener or number three batsman. Constantly changing the batting order affects the focus and concentration of the batsmen," he said.

Malik said Pakistan lost the Champions Trophy because the batting struggled on a pitch which was good for bowlers.

"Our batsmen didn't get enough runs although I thought 233 was a defendable target but we dropped catches at crucial times and our bowling was sloppy," he said.
