Nothing could have been a better potion for the revival of ODI’s than the just concluded ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa.
The Australians came back from their ICC World Twenty20 disappointment and Ashes debacle to once again stake their claim as the top ODI team in the world.
The West Indies, although with a second string team, fought their way through against Pakistan and the Aussies. South Africa, who were touted to be the pre-tournament favourites, faced an embarrassing exit before Sri Lanka and India failed to live up to their reputation of the emerging ODI kings.
What we were left with after Monday’s closely contested finals between the Trans-Tasmanian rivals was the memory of an event that has restored the order of one-day cricket.
