ICC yet to approve Karthik as replacement

The International Cricket Council is yet to approve Dinesh Kathik's name as a replacement for an injured Virender Sehwag.

The ICC is yet to approve because of a major procedural gaffe on the part of BCCI.

Karthik named to replace Sehwag

The BCCI submitted physio Nitin Patel's report instead of a doctor's to seek a replacement for Sehwag, who has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup because of a shoulder injury.

But the ICC has made it clear that it will clear Karthik's name only after receiving a doctor's report citing Sehwag's injury, it has been learnt.

Sehwag carried a Grade I shoulder injury to England and missed the warm-up games as well as the lung opener against Bangladesh on June 6 and was ruled out from the tournament on Tuesday.

Sehwag had suffered the injury during the semi-final clash in the IPL tournament against Deccan Chargers in South Africa on May 21.
