Bravo brothers to play together
West Indies star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo’s brother, Darren Bravo, has earned his maiden call for the national side.
He has been called for the first two one-day internationals against India, to be played later this month. Darren was a part of the Windies U-19 side that took part in the 2008 World Cup.
Another left-handed batsman, Narsingh Deonarine, has also been included. He was the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 1,068 runs at 59.33, including seven half-centuries. Deonarine last played an ODI in 2007.
The selectors have also summoned all-rounder David Bernard in place of Fidel Edwards, who is recovering from a lower back injury.
Bernard, 27, last played an ODI in 2003, but was a part of the ICC World Twenty20 squad.
Other notable exclusions are Lendl Simmons, Kieron Pollard, Darren Sammy and Dale Richards.
The first two ODIs are on June 26 and 28 in Kingston.
West Indies squad: Chris Gayle (c), Denesh Ramdin (wk), Lionel Baker, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Sulieman Benn, David Bernard, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Runako Morton, Ravi Rampaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Jerome Taylor.
