Pak team arrives amid high security

Pakistan's victorious ICC World T20 players made a quiet entry into Lahore, depriving fans a chance to congratulate their heroes.

The team, with the exception of captain Younus Khan, final's man-of-the-match Shahid Afridi and fast bowler Umar Gul, returned to Pakistan  on Tuesday, but were quickly whisked away to a waiting bus arranged by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Hundreds of fans had gathered outside Lahore's Allama Iqbal international airport to receive and congratulate the players, but were denied the opportunity of meeting them due to the security concerns.

The players' flight had been delayed by close to an hour, but fans had waited patiently with garlands of flowers, sweets and pictures of the players.

However, commandos kept the players away from the waiting throng and escorted them to the bus as soon as they arrived at the airport lounge.

Geo TV reported that they were transported to Pakistan's National Cricket Academy from where they left for their respective homes.

Security personnel were deployed along the route of the bus and conducted a strict check on people at several intersections.
