Ijaz Butt, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed his desire to host the ICC WT20 in Pakistan in 2014 but his dream may not be realised, according to Jalal Younis, the Media Director, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Speaking from Dhaka to-day, he said, "the papers to host this tournament was prepared and submitted to the ICC by the BCB. The papers were scrutinised by the ICC in April 2006 and it was decided by the ICC board members that the 2014 ICC WT20 would be held in Bangladesh".
"The then BCB chief Ali Ashghar Lobi was given the acceptance of the bid and therefore the PCB can not claim to host for this event," Jalal Younis explained.
The ICC World Twenty20 2010 in West Indies will be the third time that the event has taken place to date with the first two editions of the tournament taking place in 2007 and 2009.
Sri Lanka Cricket would host the fourth one in its nation in 2012. South Africa hosted the inaugural event, which was won by Team India (led by M.S.Dhoni) in a dramatic final against Pakistan at The Wanderers.
