Dalmiya to miss BCCI meeting
Former BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya has decided to stay away from the Board's Working Committee meeting.
The newly-elected Cricket Assocation of Bengal president has cited business commitments for the miss.
Dalmiya, who had plans to meet the Ministry of Defence officials in New Delhi before going to the BCCI meeting in Mumbai on Saturday, said, "I've few business commitments with a delegation from Holland coming over this weekend. So I'm not able to attend the meeting."
In his absence Bengal will be represented by CAB joint-secretary Biswarup Dey.
Speaking to PTI from Mumbai, Dey said, "Till Thursday, it was not clear who will attend the meeting, though he (Dalmiya) did not want to give this all important working committee meeting a miss. But he had to stay back with his business meetings."
The last working committee meeting of the BCCI before the all-important annual general meeting, scheduled to be held next month, suddenly had gained importance after Dalmiya, fighting a court battle with the parent body for alleged embezzlement of 1996 World Cup funds, was expected to be in attendance.
