Krish likely to fill Colonel's role

Former Indian captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth is likely to take over as the Chairman of the Selection Committee.

"Srikkanth is now almost certain to take over the Chief Selector's job with the BCCI deciding not to give an extension to Vengsarkar," a top BCCI source told PTI.

Srikkanth, who also dabbles in cricket commentary, did not initially agree but now it is learnt that the former opener is now keen to accept the position.

It is also learnt that the none of the current selectors is likely to be retained in the new panel.

Yashpal Sharma may return to the panel from North Zone while Surendra Bhave (West), Narendra Hirwani (Central) and Raja Venkat (East) could be the likely replacements.

The source also said the current BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah, whose term also comes to an end, will hold a key position in the Board but it is still not clear in what capacity he would be accommodated.

The AGM to be held on September 27 and 28 will see President Sharad Pawar stepping down and Shashank Manohar taking over.
