We did not stop Sree: KCA

The KCA has dismissed reports that S Sreesanth was denied an opportunity to play in the domestic matches.

The Cricket Board had asked Sreesanth, who was recovering from a shoulder injury to play domestic matches to prove his physical fitness.

Sreesanth was included in the state team for the Moin-ud Dowla trophy, but he did not play, Kerala Cricket Association Secretary T C Mathew said.

Speaking to mediapersons after the KCA Central Council meeting here, T R Balakrishnan, President of the KCA, refuted allegations of misappropriation of funds in the purchase of land for stadium.

"The charges were baseless and it was to tarnish the Association's image," he said.

The meeting also decided to ban four players in the state under-22 team -- Sachin Baby, Siva Pramod, Abdul Samad and Deepak Mural -- as they had submitted "false age" certificate to get into the team, for two years.

A Fast Track committee has been constituted to study the details of the proposed International cricket stadium at Kochi, he said.
