
Gujarat beat Baroda by five wickets
Parthiv Patel played a captain's knock and along with Bhavik Thakkar, helped Gujarat beat Baroda by five wickets.
Chasing a target of 214, Parthiv lost partner Jesal Karia early but added 87 runs for the second wicket with Niraj Patel (28). Parthiv got out after making 69 that came off 83 balls with eight fours in the West Zone Ranji one tournament at the RMC ground on Wednesday.
Thakkar remained unbeaten on 57 (69b, 6X4, 1X6) and along with Sunny Patel (12 runs, 8b, 2X4) guided Gujarat to victory.
For Baroda, Ketan Panchal took two wickets conceding 31 runs while Sankalp Vohra and Irkam Zapawala and Murtuza Vahora shared a wicket each.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Baroda could not recover from the top-order collapse and were bundled out for 213 in 49.4 overs.
Only opener Kedar Devdhar (69 runs, 121b, 3X4) and Murtuza Vahora (50 runs, l37b, 5X4, 1X6) provided some resistance.
Rohit Dahiya was the pick of the Gujarat bowlers taking three wickets giving away 46 runs while Harshal Patel and Vishwajit Solanki got two wickets each conceding 41 runs and 26 runs, respectively.
