"No permanent friend or foe at work"
CAB chief Jagmohan Dalmiya said there are no permanent friends or foes in professional life after meeting bitter foe and IPL chairman Lalit Modi.
Dalmiya's meeting with Modi during the latter's visit to Eden Gardens for IPL venue inspection earlier this month led to speculation in the media that the duo, once bitter rivals, have burried their hatchet to gain power in the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI).
"In professional field, there is no enemy, no friend," Dalmiya said today, when asked whether his earlier meeting had anything to do with the BCCI's internal affairs.
"He came here as the chairman of IPL. He was here for about four hours and had come with his team members. He not only came to this IPL venue, he then went to Hyderabad, Mumbai with his team for inspection. I think that was the purpose," the former ICC and BCCI chief said.
Following their marathon meeting earlier this month, Modi was all praise for Dalmiya and has said, "Dalmiya is a very experienced administrator. He has been there for a long, long time. We are all learning from him."
That meeting had taken place less than 24 hours after Modi's second loss in the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections, leading to speculations that Modi could be looking for a nomination from the East as his vice presidential term in the BCCI is set to end next year.
