Yusuf ton pounds Maharashtra
Yusuf Pathan blasted a 40-ball century as Baroda crushed Maharashtra by seven wickets in West Zone Vijay Hazare Trophy match.
Chasing 231 for victory at Ahmedabad, Baroda rode on Pathan's blistering 42-ball unbeaten 108 to romp home in the 37th over.
The all-rounder, who was included in the Indian ODI squad for the first two matches against South Africa, hit 10 sixes and eight fours, thus scoring 92 of his 108 runs through boundaries at the Sardar Patel Stadium C Ground.
Harshad Khadiwale opted to bat first but Maharashtra looked in trouble, having lost their top half for 66 runs in the 14th over.
Khadiwale (42), Kedar Jadhav (43), Ganesh Gaikwad (33), Azhar Ansari (46) and Kiran Adhav (37 not out) came up with useful cameos as Maharashtra managed 230 before folding in 48.1 overs.
Baroda captain Kedar Devdhar (62 off 64 balls) gave the team a good start but Anupam Gupta (18) and Shatrunjay Gaekwad (9) could not make much of an impact with the bat.
Once Pathan came out to bat, Maharashtra bowlers simply had no respite. Of the first 20 balls he faced, six sailed over the ropes and the match was over for Maharashtra at that stage.
