Coach wants Ishant to focus on swing
Ishant Sharma's coach Shravan Kumar believes the pacer should focus on swing and not pace against the visiting Aussies.
"Indian wickets are not all that fast and therefore Ishant should maintain an good line and length. Speed should not be a concern for him, he should look to swing the ball," Shravan told PTI.
"Australians are used to playing on bouncy tracks and therefore they rely on cut and pull shots. Ishant should keep his balls short of length to get them clean bowled or trapped in front of the wicket," he added.
Ishant scalped six wickets in the three Tests he played against Australia earlier this year and was hailed as the find of the series.
Shravan said Ishant was unlikely to repeat that success due to the slow wickets in India but he would certainly be effective.
"Australian pitches are a boon for a fast bowler. To repeat that kind of a success in India would be difficult but Ishant is a mature bowler now and with experience he will become better," he said.
Though he reckons Ishant has matured a lot as a bowler, the coach said he still had miles to go before joining the league of greats like Glenn McGrath.
"To become a bowler like McGrath and Wasim Akram, you have to be experienced like them. Ishant has a lot to achieve before acquiring that stature," he said.
