India rocks more in 50-over format

With India currently at number three in ICC’s ODI rankings, are ODIs their main domain? SportsCenter’s Ash’ar Khan finds out.

India have maintained their winning streak in one dayers having beaten Sri Lanka, New Zealand and the West Indies on their home turf this season.

MS Dhoni's boys are ranked third right now and are closing in on Australia. They have been on a dream run for the past year and the records show, that they've excelled in the 50 over format.

Better figures in ODIs

Dhoni's brigade won 70 per cent of their ODI matches, but their winning percentage is only 40 percent in Tests, and just over 37, in Twenty20.

"We are a very good one day side on papers and we have been doing consistently well at home and away," Syed Kirmani, former chairman of selectors, BCCI, said.

Dhoni has led India well

India won 17 of the 24 one-dayers this season - including a 5-0 whitewash of England in India, 4-1 series win against Sri Lanka away from home, and a 3-1 victory on the New Zealand tour.

Deadly duo

Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh have been India's star performers in that, both with two player-of-the-series awards each.

Next stop for the one-day wonders would be the Champions Trophy in September in South Africa which would influence their ODI position in world cricket.
