BCCI to investigate beach bash
The BCCI is looking into allegations of a beach party attended by three Indian players on the eve of the Asia Cup final.
According to a Pakistani newspaper, the BCCI is probing the matter as the trio of Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma apparently spent the night on Karachi's famous French beach with a couple of their local acquaintances who had thrown a party for them.
The report, quoting unidentified sources, said Yuvraj, Rohit and Raina had gone to the beach with their friends immediately after the Asian Cricket Council awards ceremony at the Mohatta Palace the night before the final, which India lost by a whooping 100 runs.
All three flopped miserably in India's run chase. Infact, Yuvraj fell for a first ball blob.
"Their friends arranged a big party for them on the beach, frequented by affluent people. And the three players returned to their hotel early in the morning from the beach," the report said, adding: "After a few hours, the Indian team went into the battle against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final."
The report said the three players were tired going into the final, besides alluding to the players' allegedly freewheeling ways in spite of a heavy security blanket for the Asia Cup.
