Knight Riders launch talent hunt
Kolkata Knight Riders coach John Buchanan has been entrusted with launching a talent hunt to build a pool of players for the team.
The former Australia coach launched a talent hunt in Mumbai aimed at selecting and grooming youngsters.
The first day of the camp drew hundreds of young players, while Buchanan said he would also conduct similar camps in Delhi and Kolkata.
"We are looking at the long-term picture," Buchanan said. "The idea is to have a large pool of players. We are here to select a few talented ones who will be trained and groomed at a two-week camp in Queensland.
"We are not here to randomly pick up kids. We are looking for talent."
The overseas camp is scheduled to take place between September 20 and October 4.
Buchanan said the talent hunt was launched with a two-point agenda and he expects to take around 20 players to Queensland.
"The first is to ensure talented kids are trained quickly and properly to have access to high level cricket," he added. "The other agenda is to reach out to the community."
