Lalit Modi says the decision of Rajasthan Royals to go public should be emulated by other IPL franchisees as well.

Modi, who is also the commissioner for IPL, while responding to a question at the Champions League T20 presser in Mumbai on Thursday said: "I think it's great that they are going public."

Initially he refused to confirm the news saying that he too had read about it in the papers, but soon after relented and said that Royals' owners Emerging Media had indeed thought of taking the franchisee to the market.

"The owners asked me and I asked them to go ahead. I want other franchisees to go public as well," he said.

Asked about the rules to go public, Modi said they had been put in place earlier and the franchisees will have to adhere to those rules.
