HP DGP: We can manage IPL

Himachal Pradesh Police said they can manage security arrangements for the IPL without help of the central paramilitary forces.

"HP Police could manage security during the IPL matches here on its own and there is no need to call the central paramilitary forces for the purpose," Director General of HP Police G S Gill said after holding an inspection at the cricket stadium here.

Gill, who was accompanied by Kangra Superintendent of Police Atul Kumar Fulzele, inspected all corners of the HPCA stadium, venue of the proposed IPL matches in the state.

The top cops were expressed satisfaction with the arrangements at the stadium, where four IPL matches have been proposed in May.

Anurag Thakur, MP from Hamirpur and son of Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, who is also the president of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, reportedly had talks with the IPL management for hosting matches here.

Works are also on for installation of flood-lights in the stadium to hold the IPL matches in evening.
