Explosive line-ups promise run-feast

Table-toppers Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians take on each other in what promises to be a run-feast.

Unvanquished so far in the tournament, Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians encounter promises to be a run-feast, given the two teams' explosive batting line-ups, in the Indian Premier League today.

Hyderabad have won both their matches

Both sides are through with two matches each and while Deccan Chargers have won both, Mumbai had to share the points due to their washed out second game against Rajasthan Royals.

It has been a dramatic turnaround of fortunes for the Adam Gilchrist-led Deccan Chargers, who finished at the bottom of the table last season.

In their tournament-opener against Kolkata Knight Riders, the Hyderabad team took the first "small step", as described by Gilchrist, towards regaining the shattered confidence after last year's show.

They stunned the fancied Knight Riders by eight wickets. Pacer R P Singh picked up four wickets before Herschelle Gibbs and vice-captain Rohit Sharma guided them home with ease.

Gilchrist led from the front in the next game, hitting a blistering 71-run knock to take the Deccan Chargers to a dominating win over Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Rohit also played a crucial 52-run innings, prompting Gilchrist to describe him as a 'class act'.

The triumph propelled the side to the top of the table with four points and though Delhi Daredevils caught up with them after beating Chennai Super Kings, the Hyderabad team remained numero uno owing to a better run rate.

Mumbai won their first match

The Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have not played since their stunning opening win over last year's runners-up Chennai Super Kings.

Skipper Sachin Tendulkar looked in good touch as he struck a 59-run knock while the young Abhishek Nayar also showed promise with a quick-fire 34 as Mumbai beat Chennai.

However, their much-anticipated contest against Rajasthan Royals, which would have renewed the famed Tendulkar-Shane Warne rivalry, ended quite literally on a damp note as persistent drizzle didn't allow a ball to be bowled.

Lacking in match practice due to the rained-out game, ageing warrior Sanath Jayasuriya's form will also be crucial to Mumbai's chances in Saturday's match.
