
"Punjab have a good combination"
Harsha Bhogle on this week’s episode of Money Talks on STAR Cricket looks at the financial side of Kings XI Punjab.
The first segment of the show highlights the ownership aspect of the Punjab team.
Hiren Pandit, Managing Partner M-ESP in response to Harsha says the fact that the team is owned by four people could be a problem, “Four different bosses could be a problem.”
Shankkar Aiyar adds “If you have a majority share holding , you could call the shots as in the case of Ness Wadia and Preity Zinta, but it’s a private enterprise.
The next segment mentions the amount paid for the Kings XI team and how well it has done in the catchments area of Punjab , Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
Harsha focuses on the players bought by the Kings XI franchise during 2008, which include players like Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan and Ramnaresh Sarwan.
Pandit in this case says, “These are good strategies in selecting a balanced side, but I don’t know whether they gel as a team. But they pulled together because of the composition of the team.”
