Sehwag strikes form at the right time
Delhi skipper Virender Sehwag says that he is relieved to have struck form with a match-winning fifty against Mumbai Indians.
He added that a good opening will be crucial in the IPL semifinals against Hyderabad on Friday.
"I am pretty happy with my performance. It's nice to have scored a fifty. I am looking forward to the semifinals now. Being back in form is good for the team as openers doing well is very important," said Sehwag after the four-wicket win over Mumbai, already out of contention.
The swashbuckling right-hander, who was named Man of the Match for his 27-ball 50, said a few players were rested from today's match to ensure that everybody in the squad gets a game.
"I gave everybody a chance to play in the IPL. We rested a few key players today," he said.
Losing skipper Sachin Tendulkar blamed the loss on poor bowling and promised to come back as a better team next year.
"We batted well but the bowling was not upto the mark. Our bowling has been good through out the tournament and one off day is OK. I wouldn't blame them too much. We will work towards a better performance next year," he added.
