Modi: Time to look beyond FTP

IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi feels it is time to look beyond the ICC's Futures Tour Programme (FTP) and enhance player pool.

Especially, after the Indian Premier League ran highly successful for second consecutive year, wooing more and more countries to join the bandwagon, .

"The FTP is bilateral event and should have no issues with domestic tournaments being held elsewhere," Modi said.

Modi considers T20 tournaments can survive in other countries as well provided people shed their "myopic" view in regard to FTP.

"We are myopic in thinking only about FTP. If England and West Indies are playing somewhere, it doesn't mean other tournaments can't take place anywhere else," he said.

The BCCI vice-president also feels that multiple tournaments will give rise to a larger player pool besides improving fan base and increasing revenue.

He also hoped that the inaugural Champions League will prove to be another success.

"I hope to take it around the world. That's the objective."
