Patil latest to join KKR coaches' list
Sandeep Patil has become the latest to join the long list of names in line to coach the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Patil has recently snapped ties with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).
The Kolkata franchise, which will have their final round of interviews at owner Shah Rukh Khan's residence in Mumbai on August 30, has called Patil, who switched sides availing the Board's amnesty offer, sources said today.
"Patil has also been called to give presentation on Sunday (August 30). But it remains to be seen whether Patil gets the post," a team insider said from Mumbai.
One of the heroes of the 1983 World Cup winning side, Patil is credited to help Kenya make the 2003 World Cup semi-finals. He was associated with Mumbai Champs in ICL before returning to BCCI fold.
Likely to return as captain of Knight Riders in IPL III, Sourav Ganguly had earlier confirmed that Pakistani great Wasim Akram, former India coach John Wright and former India batsman Pravin Amre were called for their respective presentations in Mumbai.
It is learnt that Knight Riders are looking for a blend of Indian and foreign coaches with Akram now a contender to get a capacity similar to that of consultant that would enable him to continue with his commentary commitments.
