"Manager's quote was misinterpreted"

Ending all speculations, retired Australian Adam Gilchrist said he would play in this year's Indian Premier League.

Gilchrist clarified that he would play in the IPL even if some of his compatriots decide otherwise.

Gilly to consider IPL options

"I cannot speak for other players but I am sure to tour India in March for the IPL. I am confident of Mr. Modi and the IPL organisers. I have some fine memories of India and would like to extend that," Gilchrist said.

He also said that reports claiming he was uncertain for the event had misinterpreted his manager's remarks.

"I love playing in India. My manager's quote has been misinterpreted and I am quite keen to play in India," Gilchrist told a news channel.

Earlier, media reports had quoted his manager Stephen Atkinson as saying that Gilchrist was "mindful of the security concerns in India" and was worried by Shiv Sena's threat not to allow any Australian play in India as long as attacked on the Indians did not stop Down Under.
