Jadeja faces ban from 2010 edition
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeda, a Rajasthan Royals player for the last two years, might be banned from the Indian Premier League's 2010 edition.
Jadeja, who burst into the Indian ODI squad after impressive seasons with the Royals in the IPL and for Saurashtra on the domestic circuit, is believed to have violated the IPL’s code of conduct according to a newspaper report in India.
On Saturday, The Times of India reported that that Jadeja has been suspended by the IPL after he bargained for higher salaries with other teams, without getting clearance from the Royals.
The Indian all-rounder had been recruited by the Shane Warne led team in the inaugural season under the drafts system, like all U-19 cricketers and had been paid his due of Rs 20 lakhs.
However, Jadeja refused to sign a contract of two years with the Royals and agreed to play for only the 2009 edition.
What has crated problems for the young cricketer is that Jadeja started negotiations with other franchises after his contract ended on December 31 last year without the Royals’ permission- under the laws they had the first right to refusal.
Jadeja, on his part can appeal by seeking an appointment with IPL commissioner Lalit Modi. It will be up to the governing council to determine the future of the case.
