Shaun Tait unsure about IPL
Australia fast bowler Shaun Tait remains keen to play in the IPL despite the threat of terrorist attacks.
An attack in Pune which killed nine people last week, coupled with a warning from terrorist group Al-Qaeda that athletes' safety in India cannot be guaranteed, has the world's best cricketers anxious ahead of next month's IPL.
Australia's IPL representatives will meet with their players' association in Sydney tomorrow to receive the latest security update, with a decision on their participation expected to be made in the coming days.
"Not 100% sure. We've got a meeting tomorrow with the parties involved to sort it out," said Tait, who is set to debut with the Rajasthan Royals, when asked if he still intended playing in the IPL.
"At the moment I probably know as much as anyone. We'll find a bit more out in this meeting and I'll be talking to Rajasthan to see what they've got to say.
"The rest is out of my control.
"The whole situation is a little disappointing because I'd love to go to the IPL (but) hopefully everything works out and we can go."
Tait was not selected for the first IPL tournament and missed the second through injury.
He is desperate to be involved in version three but is not interested in making any sort of statement against terrorism.
Asked if it was important athletes stood up to terrorist threats and continued to ply their trade, Tait responded: "It's a bit more serious than that. It's not something where you can just wander in and start running the show.
"There are some serious people involved."
Tait will look to play his part in rounding off an undefeated summer for Australia when Michael Clarke's men take on West Indies in the second Twenty20 international at the SCG tomorrow night.
The man they call 'The Wild Thing' took three for 30 to spearhead the Australians' comfortable win in game one yesterday and is loving life as a specialist Twenty20 bowler.
"It's good fun. The shorter form is the way I'm heading and the way I've been heading the last year or so," he explained.
"I've enjoyed it this season. The Twenty20s have been great.
"The crowds have been brilliant and there's been plenty of interest."
