
Season 3 kicks off with gala ceremony
The Indian T20 Series starred some top entertainers around the world at a gala opening ceremony on Friday.
Lionel Richie, Ali Campbell of UB40's and Bjorn Again and Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone entertained the spectators at a visual extravaganza at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The ceremony started with the eight captains taking the 'MCC - Spirit of Cricket' oath to respect their opponents.
All the captains also signed the Spirit of Cricket Board as an attestation to play the game within the spirit of cricket.
Thereafter the entertainment started with UB40's Ali Campbell, performing the all-time hit song 'Can't Help Falling in Love' supported by a troupe of dancers in colorful outfits.
Bjorn Again then sang the ABBA's super hit song 'Dancing Queen' accompanied by 16 dancers in retro costumes.
The much awaited moment came when the Bollywood star Deepika Padukone took the centre-stage, performing to a medley of 'Tonight's Going to be Good Night' from the 'Black Eyed Peas', 'Teri Adayein' from 'Karthik calling Karthik', and 'Twist' from 'Love Aaj Kal'.
That was followed by Hoola Hoop juggling artists creating the logos of the eight Indian T20 Series teams using LED glow sticks.
Legendary pop singer Lionel Richie performed his hit number 'Dancing on the Ceiling' as all the other artists and performers joined him on the stage.
Finally, the glittering event came to an end with breathtaking fireworks that lit up the Mumbai sky.
