Disciplinary meet on Modi postponed

BCCI disciplinary panel meeting on Wednesday to probe the alleged financial irregularities by suspended IPL Chairman Lalit Modi in running the Twenty20 league has been put off due to non-availability of one of its members, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

"The meeting (in Delhi) has been put off as Jyotiraditya Scindia is not available. He's off to China," Modi's legal counsel Mehmood Abdi said on Tuesday.

Though the BCCI wanted the next date to be fixed for August 25, it was not suitable to Modi's battery of lawyers.

"The BCCI wanted the date of the next meeting to be fixed on August 25 but Mr Modi's lawyers are not available on that day," Abdi said.

"The date of the meeting would be settled amicably," he added.

The three-member panel, comprising Chirayu Amin, Arun Jaitley and Scindia, is probing alleged irregularities committed by Modi in running the IPL and has held three meetings so far.

Modi was suspended on April 26, soon after the conclusion of the third edition of the Twenty20 League but has not attended any meeting so far.
